ObjectiveTo investigate the situation of adult epilepsy patients with depression,and discuss its main factors to provide evidence-based medicine for the clinical treatment of clinicians to further improve the quality of life in patients with epilepsy.MethodsWe have Investigated the adult patients with epilepsy who saw doctors at neurology department in jining Psychiatric Hospital from October 2012 to March 2014,including general demographic and clinical data and 24 Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD)evaluation.SPSSl3.0(for windows)software package was applied to count the situation of depression in adult patients with epilepsy.We also used unconditional Logistic regression analysis of multivariate binomial classification to recognize the related factors and their relevancy.Results96 cases investigated in adult patients with epilepsy: Male,52 people,44 were female;aged 18 to 60 years(mean 33.25 ± 8.76)years;duration 5 ~ 35 years.There were46 cases of adult epilepsy patients with depression,accounted for 47.9%;29 of whom had mild depression,accounted for 30.5%,17 of whom had moderate to severe depression,accounted for 17.7%;3 people have thought of suicide,accounted for 6.5%.Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed: seizure frequency,duration,economic conditions,education,and other factors associated with adult epilepsy patients with depressive disorder had a significant correlation.ConclusionThis study shows that about half of adult patients with epilepsy have depressive disorder(47.9%).frequency,duration,economic status and education have obvious relevance with adult epilepsy patients with depressive disorder.
