Objective:To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture-moxibustion therapy and joint mobilization on lumbar disc herniation. Methods:We elected150patients with lumbar disc herniation, meeting the inclusion criteria, from the rehabilitation department, Mianyang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The sufferers are randomly divided into treatment group(75cases) and control group(75cases) on a1:1basis. We adopt acupuncture therapy with joint mobilization in the treatment group and acupuncture-moxibustion therapy in the control group. Both groups are treated once per day,5times for a course of treatment and a total of20days of treatment (3courses), and there are two spaces of2days during the whole course. At the same time, We use 《The diagnosis and outcome of common diseases (standard)》 promulgated by National ministry of health, JOA scores and short form McGill Pain Questionnaire (short-form of McGill pain questionnaire, SF-MPQ) to evaluate the efficacy before and after the treatment. The results of data were statistically analyzed using SPSS16.0software.Results:1.After statistics analysis, the gender, age, course of the two groups of cases have no significant difference. They are comparable. After three courses of treatment, with rank and inspection, P<0.05, the comparison of the overall clinical efficacy was considered statistically significant.showing that two groups of patients after the treatment has good effect, but the total effective rate of treatment group was evidently better than the control group.2.The comparison of JOA scale scores, before treatment two groups of the JOA score was not statistical significance. After the end of treatment, two groups of patients score has significantly increased, suggesting both treatments were equally effective. JOA score between two groups after treatment, P<0.05, suggested that the effect of treatment group was higher than the control group. Comparing the JOA period, Treatment group and control group having significant difference, was considered statistically significant.3.The comparison of SF-MPQ scores. Before treatment, the scores of the PRI, VAS, PPI which were comparable was not statistically significant. After treatment, scores were significantly improved.Between the two groups, P<0.05, the difference was considered statistically significant, indicating that the treatment group was superior to the control group. Conclusion:Both acupuncture-moxibustion therapy alone and acupuncture therapy with joint mobilization on lumbar disc herniation have effect on lumbar disc herniation. Acupuncture therapy with joint mobilization which can obviously alleviate symptoms of patients with various aspects, improve the level of overall curative effect and the JOA, SF-MPQ scale score, is superior to acupuncture-moxibustion therapy.
