This is a translation report for Changing Patterns of Aging and Family Bonds in Later Life which was written by Beth B. Hess.Data retrieval reveals that there has been no Chinese version of this article so far. This translation project intends to translate it into Chinese under the guideline of functional equivalence theory. Following the principles of functional equivalence theory, the report puts forward different translation methods and skills to solve the difficulties in translating the source text. The report is divided into four parts. Part One is the translation project description including the project background, its objectives, significance and so on. Part Two is the introduction to the translation process, consisting of the introduction of the author of the source text, preparation for the project. Part Three is about difficulties encountered in translation and methods adopted, including preparation before translation and examples of different translation methods used to overcome the difficulties. Part Four concludes with the lessons, implications and unsolved problems, hoping to provide reference for the non-literature translation in the future.
