Chinese medicine at treatmenthand eczema backlog abundant of experience, have curative effect to show marked, sideeffect little, relapse the rate low etc. advantage.This research usage the Chinese medicinebasic theories, combine modern medical science theories and treatment method, aim atvalid treatment hand eczema of in the meantime, minimum because of treatment bring ofside effect, investigate clinical treatment the best path of the hand eczema.Objective: The aim of this study was performed to observe the therapeutic efficacy andside effects of compounded Machixian lotion with narrow-band UVB (NB-UVB)phototherapy in the treatment of hand eczema(HE).Method: Forty-five patients were included in the study after a randomized,They weredivided into three groups: Group A, 15 patients, were given a synchronous treatment withherb lotion and NB-UVB; Group B, 11 patients, and groupC,19patients, were treated withNB-UVB phototherapy and herb lotion separately.The severity of the disease was assessedby an HECSI score at baseline and after 2, 3 and 4and weeks of treatment. The reduction inthe HECSI score was caculated.Results: In group A,11 was judged to obtain nearly complete remission,3 gained marked improvement,1 got slight improvement and no change in 0 patient, while they was 0,6,4,1and 6,9,3,1 in group B and group C separately. A comparison was mede ,the therapeuticefficacy of a synchronous treatment with herb lotion and narrow-band UVB phototherapywas superior to they separately use (P＜0.05),and the former was fast in improving lesion(P＜0.05). In 4 weeks treatment,there no side effect appear in 45 patients.Concludes: A synchronous treatment with compounded Machixian lotion and NB-UVBwas effectual and safe for chronic hand eczema.
