OBJECTIVE: To investigate the serum IL-5(interleukin-5) and IL-6(interleukin-6) levels and familial aggregation of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) correlation in Guangxi, China.METHODS: ELISA (Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay) was used forquantitative detection of serum IL-5, IL-6levels in101pairs of carcinoma-freemembers in HCC high-incidence families and members in carcinoma-freefamilies underwent matching design (with matching conditions of the samegender, age±5years old, same nation, customs and habits, living environmentand HBV infection) in HCC high-incidence area in Guangxi.Statisticalcomparative analysis method, correlation between IL-5, IL-6level and HCChigh-incidence families in Guangxi, while comparative analysis of the levels ofserum IL-5, IL-6between different clinical features of high liver cancerincidence family members.RESULTS:⑴HCC High-incidence familIes of carcinoma-free membersserum IL-5levels were significantly higher than those in members in carcinoma-free families (Z=-3.315, P=0.001).⑵The male members of HCChigh-incidence famillies in IL-5levels than those in members in carcinoma-freefamillies (Z=-3.357, P=0.001), female members compared no significantdifference (Z=-0.999, P=0.138). Zhuang, Han members of the IL-5level in incarcinoma-free members in HCC high-incidence families were significantlyhigher than those in members in carcinoma-free families (Z壮=-3.294,Z汉=-2.201,P壮=0.001,P汉=0.028).Yao members of the IL-5level compared withno statistical difference (Z=-0.105, P=0.917). HBsAg-negative HCChigh-incidence famillies of IL-5levels were significantly higher than thosemembers in carcinoma-free famillies(Z=-2.931, P=0.003), HBsAg-positive HCChigh-incidence families and members in carcinoma-free families of IL-5levelswas no significant difference (Z=-1.562, P=0.118).⑶Carcinoma-free membersin HCC high-incidence families and members in carcinoma-free families ofserum IL-6levels was no significant difference (Z=-0.588, P=0.557).⑷Carcinoma-free members in HCC high-incidence families and members incarcinoma-free families of serum IL-6levels showed no significant changes inthe gender, Zhuang, Han, HBsAg positive and HBsAg negative, no statisticaldifference(Z男=-5.585,Z女=-0.115,Z壮=-0.146,Z汉=-0.943,ZHBsAg阳性=-0.,629,ZHBsAg阴性=-0.354,P男=0.599,P女=0.909,P壮=0.884,P汉=0.345,PHBsAg阳性=0.534,PHBsAg阴性=0.,723). But Yao members of the IL-6level in incarcinoma-free members in HCC high-incidence families was significantlyhigher than those in members in carcinoma-free families (Z=-2.271, P=0.023),the difference was statistically significant.CONCLUSION: There was a certain correlation of IL-5and incidence offamilial aggregation of HCC in Guangxi, male and Zhuang obviously. It was suggested that weak changes had appeared in immune systems ofcarcinoma-free members in HCC families, especially TH1/TH2type cytokines.IL-6might not be significantly correlated to the familial aggregation of HCC inGuangxi.
