Objective : To explore the relationship between the expression of interleukin-8(IL-8)and its clinical significance in the family members with high incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma in Guangxi, and to provide theoretical basis for early diagnosis and treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods : 105 pairs of family members with high incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma and non-cancer family members were selected from the high incidence area of hepatocellular carcinoma in Guangxi. The changes of IL-8 levels in peripheral serum were detected quantitatively by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results:The overall expression level of IL-8 in the high-incidence group(observation group)was higher than that in the non-cancer family group(control group),and the difference was statistically significant(t=2.224,P=0.027).In the high-risk family layer of liver cancer, the gender was female, the IL-8 expression level of <35 years old was higher than that of the non-cancerous family members, and the difference was statistically significant(Female t=2.020,P =0.046;Age <35 years old t =2.232,P = 0.028).Therewas no significant difference in IL-8 expression between males and those over35 years old(Male t = 1.16,P =0.247;Age ?35 years old t = 0.98,P=0.330).There was no significant difference in IL-8 expression levels between different nations(Zhuang Nationality t = 1.601,P = 0.185;Yao nationality t =1.729,P = 0.090).There was no significant difference in IL-8 expression levels between different hepatitis B surface antigens(HBsAg positive t = 1.666,P =0.098;HBsAg negative t = 1.683,P = 0.099).There was no significant difference in IL-8 expression among probands in families with high incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma(t = 0.27,P = 0.792).There was no significant difference in IL-8 expression levels between different phylogenetic relationships(F=1.841,P = 0.164).Conclusion :(1)The level of IL-8 expression is related to the family aggregation of HCC in the high incidence area of HCC in Guangxi, especially in female and family members younger than 35 years old.(2)The elevated level of IL-8 expression was not related to HBsAg carrier status, race, kinship and the number of probands.
