Objective: The lipid-lowering drug “Xuezhike” prescription was screened from QinlingSpecialty Forest drug, we have studied the effect of “Xuezhike” prescription on high bloodlipid levels in SD model rats and assessed the effect on hyperlipidemic as well as its safetyusing experimental research. Methods: Preparation the high cholesterol model animals whichfeed on high fat diet (78.6%basal diet, l0%lard, l0%egg yolk powder,1%cholesterol,0.2%propylthiouracil,0.2%bile salt) needed45d. The high cholesterol rats were randomly dividedinto model group, positive drug-Zhibituo group and the "Xuezhike" prescription high, medium and low dose group, then continuous administrated28d, and obtain tail vein bloodserum. Four indicators (TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C) was measured using oxidase methodthrough Hitachi7180automatic biochemical analyzer, while the "Xuezhike" prescription wasconducted acute toxicity tests. Result: The "Xuezhike" high, medium and low doses cansignificantly reduce TC, TG and LDL-C levels in high blood cholesterol in rat serum, compared with the positive drug–Zhibituo, while significantly increased HDL-C levels on adose dependent relation. In addition, the acute toxicity test results showed that the "Xuezhike"prescription was safe and nontoxic. Conclusion:“Xuezhike” prescription has a bettertherapeutic effect to high blood fat model rats, which can be expected to be further used inclinical trials as well as has an important guiding significance for scientific and rationaldevelopment of Chinese Taibaishan herbal medicine resources.
