Hyperbaric Oxygen As A Assistant Remedy For The Sudden Deafness In Adult: A Meta Analysis

Aim： To compare effective rate of hyperbaric oxygen with medicaltherapy versus medical therapy alone to treating sudden deafness in adults,investigate the best time window of treatment for SHL, and talk over theaffect of vertigo symptom to efficacy,adopting the method of Meta analysis.Moreover,To ascertain the security of hyperic therapy by means ofresearching relevant reports.Means: For requiring the literature what we needed for the research,serched part of foreign and interior data bases as follow:PubMed(January1972to Decemeber2012),OVID(1972to2012),Elesevier(1972to2012),CNKI(1979to2012),VIP(1989to2012)， inclusive and exclusivecriteria that were established in advance,researchers using CochraneHandbook5．0to assess the quality of those literaturesstrictly.Finally,researches summarize and collect the data,to require theuseful messages by means of analyzing the data with RevMan5.0software.Outcome:The seven literatures that all were estimated up to standard ofrandomized controlled trials that we needed, enter into the last andimportant process of collection and analysis. The comparative outcome of two different treatment therapy of the odds ratio (OR) of the all effective ratewas3.46and95%confident interval was between2.62and4.58,those datawere coming from Meta analysis.Those data suggest that the difference thathas statistical significance between two groups. Five researches of includedstudies describe the relationship between treatment course andefficacy,stratifing the treatment time within and over a week. Meta analysisdata suggests that the OR of the whole effective rate among two groups was6.56,the value of95%CI was between4.30and10.01. The value OR ofwhole effective rate between accompanying vertigo and no vertigo groupswas0.18,95%CI was between0.09and0.36.None of literatures are harmfulreaction report resulting from hyperbaric oxygen therapy.Conclusion:The efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen with medical therapy isbetter than medical therapy alone signifcantly,and it has great security. Thetreatment course within one week has better efficacy than over one week forSHL,the doctor should make a prescription as soon as possible for suchpatient.Accompanying verigo had bad influence to the recover of hearingloss.Hyperbaric oxygen as a great effective adjuvant therapy to SHL inadult,it can be apply to the clinical treatment widely.
