Clinical Research Of Air Enema For Infant Intussusception

Objective To rule the procedure of air enema in diagnosis and treatment of intussusception, in order to improve the success rate of reduction, and to judge the situation that can not be reduced early in air enema for surgical intervention.Methods We retrospectively reviewed X-ray films and the records of125infants who underwent air enema for intussusception at our hospital in the last five years. Comparison of the sample rate and the overall rate, Chi-square test were adopted, when air enema were analysed.Results The success rate of reduction to intussusception at our hospital is lower than the literature statistics.5patients were restored with secondary air enema. Thickness of abdominal wall in most patients were finded greater than1centimeter, which could affect abdominal massage. So the operation of air enema reduction need further research and improve.Conclusions Air enema have high success rate, and the operation is relatively simple and safe. But some patients with air enema were not successful, and even perforation took place. So the operation of air enema reduction should be normative. And abdominal massage attempted in reduction of intussusception should be carried out cautiously.
