[Objectives] Discuss the differences of distribution, quantity and morphology ofS100+Langerhans cells between HPV-positive Bowenoid papulosis and Condylomaacuminatum skin lesions.[Methods]30cases of BP patients and30cases of CApatients were selected, with20casesof normal foreskin as controls. We marked the Langerhans cells in the tissues abovereffered to, using anti-S100antibody through immunohistochemistry technology. Then, weobserved the distribution, quantity and morphology of S100+Langerhans cells amomgtheses tissues under microscope and compared the result with each other.[Results]1.The difference of S100+LCs distribution among the three tissues: there werefew LCs which featured cytoplasm and membrane brown, scattering the whole stratumspinosm both in the normal foreskins and the CA lesions, but LCs were widespread andevenly distributed mainly in upper part of stratum spinosm in BP lesions.2. The differenceof S100+LCs quantity among the three tissues: the average value of S100+LCs was2.00±1.05/unit area,1.25±1.06/unit area and5.70±1.49/unit area in normal foreskins, CA lesionsand BP lesions respectively. There was significant difference among these groups (P<0.01).3. The difference of S100+LCs morphology among the three tissues: there were seldomtypical dendritic cells in the normal foreskins with few and short dendritic protrusions, andpart of LCs dendritic protrusions was invisible; typical dendritic cells in CA lesions werestill few, the majority of which with uncomplete structure, few and short dendritic protrusions, and even some had no dendritic protrusions; the dendritic cells weresignificantly more in BP lesions with long and slender protrusions, and some protrusionsentended to prickle cells nearby.[Conclusion] The number of mature LCs in HPV-positive Bwenoid papulosis lesions issignificantly more than that in CA lesions, indicating that antigen presentation function ofLCs in BP lesions was more active.
