Object:This study targeted at one military general hospital in Xinjiang region to evaluate nursing staff’health education ability. By analyzing nursing staff’ health education ability and health education effect,reach the elements that affect the ability and effect of health education in military hospital. Also byevaluating the continuing education program for on-job nursing staff concerning health education, providesa valuable basis for continuing education programs and related training curriculum for the on-job nursingstaff of the military hospital, in the Xinjiang region and for the establishment of a suitable military generalhospital inpatient health education.Methods: This study adopted a descriptive method. The "hospital nursing staff evaluation of healtheducation ability scale", in accordance with the random cluster sampling method in a third-A militarygeneral hospital in Xinjiang a total of413nursing staff were cross-sectional survey; in the investigation ofnursing staff in the Department, the revised "hospital patients to nursing staff evaluation of health educationability scale" randomly selected317hospitalized soldiers were investigated by.Results: The army hospital health education ability of nursing staff self assessment score was150.81±17.93points, the standard score was83.78±9.96, the patients’ assessment score was113.80±17.44pointson nursing staff’ health education ability, the standard score was87.54±13.41points. There were nosignificant statistical difference on nurses’ self assessment and patients’ assessment scores of eachdimension(P>0.05). There were significant statistical difference on departments and personnel category,age, working years, clinical with teaching experience, take teaching time, schools and work healtheducation study (P <0.01).80.2%of the army hospital nursing staff in hospital and85.2%of the officersand soldiers have a good review of the health education evaluation carried out by nursing staff. It is thoughtthat the influence of the nursing staff to carry out health education effect of nursing personnel factors isstaff shortages, workload is big, the lack of health education time, patients factor is the cultural level, age,understanding and their own quality; System factor is family and social support system is not perfect.81.3%of the nursing staff need learning and training of health education. The most popular way to learn isindoor study, and has a high requirement on communication skills of learning and training.Conclusion: The army hospital nursing staff has basic health education ability, but health education abilityis uneven. It is thought that the influence of the nursing staff to carry out health education effect of nursingpersonnel factors is staff shortages, workload is big, the lack of health education time, patients factor is thecultural level, age, understanding and their own quality; System factor is family and social support systemis not perfect.81.3%of the nursing staff need learning and training of health education. And there is a highrequirement on learning and training health education for the nursing staff, which indicating that thenursing managers should continue to strengthen training through a variety of ways. Thus to improvenursing health education ability, and promotes the health education effect.
