The EPC Project General Contracting Capability Evaluation Research Based On The Core Business Ability

The EPC general contractor has been popularized and applied in the field ofproject construction in China for30years, and has gradually developed into oneimportant pattern of project trade. The EPC genera l contracting enterprises in ourcountry has made some amazing performance in the engineering general contractingmarket both at home and abroad, but the shortage still exists in EPC project generalcontracting business. Only the general contracting enterprises in our country eliminateand reduce this deficiency, can the general contracting enterprises achieve sustainabledevelopment chances in the market both at home and abroad. To this end, this paperconducted the following study:Firstly, the paper introduced the situation about the EPC mode’s application anddevelopment at home and abroad and the performance which the Chinese EPC generalcontracting enterprises have made in engineering markets both at home and abroad; Andanalyzed the reasons about the EPC general contracting enterprises insufficientlycarrying out the EPC project general contracting business and reached the conclusionthat the poor EPC project general contracting capability is the main reason for ChineseEPC general contracting enterprises insufficiently carrying out the EPC project generalcontracting business.Secondly, introduced the Chinese EPC general contract enterprises’ the formationand development model and the development trend, and came to the conclusion thatthe integrated mode is the main pattern of our EPC general contracting enterprises’formation and development, and it is the most key for the enterprises in the integrationthat extending core business and enhance the complete ability of the core business to develop competitive advantages; On the basis of the core business ability theories,defined the EPC project general contracting capability, and analyzed the difference andconnection about the EPC project general contracting capability with the generalcontractor enterprise’s core competitiveness to deepen the understanding about theconnotation and status of the EPC project general contracting capability.Then, after analyzing the characteristics and content of EPC project generalcontracting capability, built the EPC project general contracting capability indexevaluation system; Established the matter-element evaluation mode about the EPCproject general contracting capability maturity by the a nalytic hierarchy process and thematter-element analysis method; and verified the validity of the proposed researchmethods through a case.Finally, aimed at different stages of the EPC project general contracting ability, putforward some suggestions respectively from the design, project operation andresources storage and use for our EPC project general contracting enterprises improvingthe capability of the EPC project general contracting, and gave some relatedsuggestions to the general contracting enterprises using strategic managementperformance tools to strengthen the management of business management to reduce therisk caused by the EPC project general contracting enterprises blindly carrying out theEPC project general contracting.
