With the development of vocational education, the teaching model of vocational schools in our country has obtained the enormous development. In the course of vocational mathematics teaching, however, the traditional teaching method has dominated the teaching process. It uses the pattern of mathematical teaching in secondary school for universal reference, which focuses on how to teach, which cannot embody student-centered and humanistic teaching concept, which ignores the students’dominant position and ignore many needs and potentials of the students who are independent and act as individuals, which neglect the various forms of the interaction between the students and teachers, especially neglect the needs of cultivating students’autonomous learning ability and stimulating the students’ potential, which leads to baffling the development of students’ creativity. As a result, the students would lack studying initiative and has a low efficiency.Nowadays, one of the most fundamental qualities is how to learn, which makes increasing demands on teachers. Teachers should teach students knowledge, most important task is to teach them the methods of learning and to train the students’ability of the learning independence. The project-instruction approach is an effective way to lead the students to learning actively, providing an effective atmosphere of communication between teachers and students. These years the project-instruction approach is very popular in Middle Schools, leading such a situation in the elementary education:the essence of national education lies in Jiangsu and the quintessence and soul of Jiangsu education lies in Nantong. Rudong county in Nantong has carried out the teaching mode of project-instruction for many years and accumulated abundant experience. The author takes the teaching mode in the middle school mathematics teaching as a reference, and tries an attempt in the five-year system in higher vocational mathematics teaching to lead the students to participating in the process of mathematics learning and acquire knowledge actively as well as cultivating students with self-taught ability and innovation consciousness.This research was based on the form of the literature method, survey method and action research method. This paper studies comprehensively with the present situation of the students’mathematics learning and the teachers’mathematics teaching under background of the five-year system. Upon this the basic and the teaching theory, combining with the high vocational mathematics teaching practice, we construct the project-instruction class-teaching mode, which adapts to the five-year system in higher vocational mathematics teaching. This article states in detail basic principle, procedures, guidance plan, instruction-based teaching method. Also this paper analyzes and summaries the practice of the project-instruction approach, providing objective references for the relational counterpart.
