December11,2001, China officially became the143th members of the WTO. Over the past decade, convenient terms of trade provide new opportunities for the development of China’s foreign trade, China’s economic developed rapidly. Until2011, the scale of trade in goods and services trade have increased more than six times, the average annual growth rate of over20%.China’s foreign trade structure is extremely inharmonious; development of service trade has lagged far behind the development of goods trade. China is one of the world’s largest countries in goods trade, which has been in a dominant position in China’s foreign trade structure. While maintaining a huge amount of goods trade surplus, accompanied by equally large huge services trade deficit. Unreasonable trade structure of China’s foreign trade has seriously hampered the healthy and sustainable development.Transportation, tourism and other traditional service trade are still the subject of service trade; transportation service trade volume accounted for the proportion of China’s service trade volume remained at above25%all year round, transport service trade deficit take up the entire service trade deficit for more than half. Maritime service trade is the most important way of transportation service, which accounts for more than70%of the entire transportation services trade. In the context of globalization, the cheapest transportation in the state-to-state, between the mainland and mainland is the transportation by sea. Aircrafts and trains cannot solve the global transportation problems. Maritime service trade as an international trade bridges, plays an important role in international trade. Therefore, China should take advantage of the competitive advantage in goods trade, promote collaborative development of maritime service trade and goods trade, and enhance overall competitiveness of China’s foreign trade.Through the collection of documents, I have expounded the external environment of China’s Maritime service trade, compared the development between maritime service trade and goods trade since China’s accession to the WTO, and believed that there is a correlation between them. This paper applying Eviews5.0statistical software, with the VAR model, analyses the total long-run equilibrium relationship between maritime service trade and goods trade. By analyzing the results of the model, the development of goods trade plays significant role in promoting the development of maritime service trade, in return, maritime service trade can provide strong support for upgrading the internal structure for goods trade, reducing the transportation costs of goods trade, increasing competition advantage for goods trade. Under the premise of maintaining our competitive advantage in goods trade, we should strengthen the cooperation of maritime enterprises, increase the competitiveness of maritime service trade, and promote collaborative development of maritime service trade and goods trade. At the same time we should actively participate in international trade rules draft, increase the voice of Chinese government in international trade, and take a more proactive stance in international trade.
