Study On The Influencing Factors Of The Deficit In Trade Of Maritime Services

China is a major trading nation. Each year, the huge volume of trade promotes the development of Chinese maritime service trade. According to statistics, the 90% of annual import and export goods are accomplished by sea transport, to some degree, the sea transportation is the lifeline of Chinese import and export transportation. The development of trade in maritime services is not only a direct impact on our transport service trade, but also become the protection to commodity trade and it has played a pivotal role in promoting the development of Chinese economic.Through the study, we found that the deficit of the trade in Chinese maritime service is very serious, and it constitutes the main source of the deficit of the trade in transport service. As a universally recognized maritime power country, both of the sea transport capacity and the demand of sea transport occupies an important position in the world. But China has a phenomenon of the deficit of the trade in maritime service for a long time. This phenomenon of the deficit has become a resistance to the development of Chinese shipping industry, and affects the development of service trade. This paper pays the emphasis on the hot issue in current of maritime service trade, using qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze the factors causing the deficit and identifying the reasons for the form of the deficit.This paper first carries on the limits to the related concept of the trade in marine service. Then it conducts research on the most important issue--the deficit of the trade in maritime service based on the present situation of Chinese marine transportation. It analysis on the factors that impact the trade in maritime service, through both qualitatively and quantitatively methods, it summing up the factors that cause the deficit of trade in maritime services, using multiple regression analysis of the impact of various factors on the degree of deficit. Concluded that the low proportion of the cargo transported by Chinese ship, low competitiveness of maritime service trade, high degree of openness on shipping are the main reasons that cause the deficit of maritime service trade and the low proportion of the cargo transported is the most important reason. Finally, it proposes the countermeasure for the development of the trade in maritime service.
