| World international trade consists of two major parts:trade in goods and trade in services. These two parts existed and developed at the same time. But the two parts also have obvious differences. It is easy to deliver goods across boarder, while it’s not that easy for service because of its characteristic of intangibility, non-storable and instantly-consumed. As a result, theories and practices are not all the same for development in trade in goods and trade in services.Trade in service has experienced fast growing ever since the implement of GATS, of which development has caught people’s great attention. While the volume of trade in service is expending fast, its structure is not that balanced. The major trading nations in goods are also the major trading nations in services. While some countries are experiencing large trade surplus in goods they are deficit in service sectors, the opposite phenomenon also common in other countries. China’s Twelfth Five-year Plan has clearly advocated its objects to optimize trade structure and to promote the competitiveness in merchandise trade by promoting the development in trade in service. At the same time, how to maintain our country’s advantage in the international trade sand to optimize trade structure have become the hot spot in the academic circles.This article focuses on trade in service which has direct relationship with trade in goods. Firstly it analyzes the current situation and status of trade in goods and services. Then it selects three major sectors which have direct relationship with trade in goods,i.e. trade in transportation sector and trade in innsurance and financial sector. By analyzing the impact of trade in service in the above sectors to trade in goods from theoretical and empirical aspects, it gets the conclusion of degree of influence.Through the above analysis, this article gets the following main conclusion:The value of trade in goods to value of trade in service is relatively low compared with the world average level, which indicates the large potential of development in service sector. At the same time, there also exists some problem in the structure of trade in service in China. Theoretical and empirical analysis concludes that exports in trade in service can stimulate exports in trade in goods and also can help improve its structure. But the effect is relatively less obvious than developed countries. As a result, our country should make effort in stimulate the development of trade in service that has direct relationship with trade in goods and also strength the mutual relationship between trade in goods and trade in service. |
