Research On The Construction Of Museum Public Cultural Services

Museums are vital to the Public Cultural Service System. Providing cultural services to the public is the nature as well as a basic function of a museum. Since China’s construction of a non-profit cultural service system in the year2008, China gradually deepens its knowledge of public cultural services and keeps enhancing its abilities to offer cultural services in museums. During the same period, some problems have been exposed. On one hand, the Chinese government formulated and implemented the important policy of building a Public Cultural Service System. On the other hand, the community has more requirements on public cultural services. As a result, the goals and contents of public cultural services have to be adjusted to fit these factors and cultural services in museums are expected to be improved along with it.This thesis aims to examine the public cultural services in museums. Firstly, it analyzes the political background and meanings of conceptions such as public cultural services and the Public Cultural Service System, etc. in order to thoroughly discuss about the goals and contents of the Public Cultural Service System. The discussion on the public aspect of museums shows the institutions’ definite advantages in offering public cultural services by nature. Then, supported by surveys on the public cultural services in museums in current situation and related data, it talks about the chief obstacles to the construction of a Public Cultural Service System. In the end, on the basis of practice, this study explains how to solve these problems above.
