Abstract/Summary:
IPv4/IPv6transition technology has become one of the most popular topics in the network technology field. Transition technology has proved to be inevitable in the evolvement process of IPv6. DS-Lite technology with its relatively high efficiency and broad adaptability enables IPv6users to have access to IPv4services in most of the transition scenarios. Two supporting elements which are Base Bridging BroadBand Element (B4) and DS-Lite Address Family Transition Router element (AFTR) implemented on user side and network service provider respectively are required. AFTR is the concentrator of all tunnels initiated from B4s and it also undertakes Network Address Translations (NAT).DS-Lite bases on "star" topology structure so that AFTR’s, the key component of DS-Lite, robustness and efficiency are highly required. Most of the users’traffic shall pass through AFTR which makes a longer communication interval, a lower efficiency of packet transmission and a higher burden on both network and AFTR device itself. My paper has come up with an improvement of DS-Lite technology, based on the shortcomings of original DS-Lite, which enables some of the traffic propagates directly to the destination user equipment instead of going to AFTR by default. In this way, AFTR’s traffic has been reduced. What’s more, the whole system’s robustness will increase to a certain degree.In this paper, the design and shortcoming of the DS-Lite transition scenarios will be elaborated. And then, according to the shortcomings stated before, the paper comes up with an intra-domain tunnel strategy which is a kind of evolvement proposal of DS-Lite. Besides, some configurations of mobile terminals will be discussed and a user interface will be shown so that users with improved equipment will not feel the whole system supporting the communication process. Finally, the paper will implement and test the module of intra-domain tunneling of on ARM platform with Android OS.
