This paper is mainly about the design and implementation method of Gas meter monitor terminal which is based on ZigBee protocol. At the beginning a research on the development of the gas meter and its monitor terminal was done to identify the shortage or the blank of the field. At the same time the security problem which is an important issue that must be solved has been found out. Considering these the assumption of gas meter monitor terminal based on the ZigBee protocol was designed and its advantages in the usage were analyzed.After that there is a brief introduction about the main technology which would be used in the research. Then the project plan was introduced. The first part is about the overall design, which included the functional needs analysis, system overall layout, research target and the technology choice about the main hardware and software. Following that it is the detailed introduction about the constructions of the hardware and software, the design method of the hardware circuit and the system program, especially the key process. In the end there is an introduction about the upper computer system which was used in the experiment and the results on the functional and stability tests. Also a forecast on the development of gas meter monitor terminal in the future was described.This design chose the core module, CC2430, as a the communication and control core; and cooperated with MeterBus transceiver and high performance analog quantity sampling module to read data and measure the concentration of combustible gas. The networking and data communication between the collector and the concentrator were achieved through the self-organizing network technology of ZigBee. Also the system program which is written in C language could control all the hardware parts and could implement the data communication and automatic alarm solution functions. At last the prototype was made to do some further research.This program combined the main function of remote meter reading system with the gas leakage alarm system, which means the integrated gas use and supervision function could be provided. Therefore the management efficiency could be increased and the potential risk would be reduced. So it is an important and meaningful design in the field of gas management and security and remote monitoring.
