China has alreadyentered a contradiction-highlighting high-risk stage, and various intricate socialcontradictions constantly highlighted, which leads to mass incidents occur frequently.With the media spreading rapidly and widely, the development of a wide range of allkinds of media attention for mass incidents gradually increases and the media as thebond and bridge linking the government and the citizens play an extremely importantrole in the mass incidents. Catalyst media such as social movements reportingproperly can guide the communication between the government and the people, andthe consultation event can promote mass shift toward a rational direction of relaxation.Otherwise, reporting improperly may play a role in fanning the flames, and furtherintensify contradictions, resulting in the spread of the incident. It is effective inpreventing and handling mass incidents to study the relationship between thegovernment and the media in mass incidents, and to establish a good mutualcooperation, mutual supervision relationship.The connotation, the classification and the causes of the mass incidents weresummarized in this paper.
