China is a maritime power. Fishery radio is the only means of maritime mobile communication. Its communication quality is closely related to fishermen’s safety of life and property. The new fishery radio of SX08series has some advantages. For example, call building up time is short, various functions and clear communication. However, when the distance between fishing vessels is too far (beyond the communication distance of25nautical miles),each other loses communication ability. Therefore, based on the hardware and software platform, the wireless routing protocol fits for fishery radio network is studied. Then, the fishing radios have networking capability and can transmit message by relay function.Fishery radio of SX08series has functions such as SOS, selective call, sending messages and pictures and so on. The new management function can let the shore station read or write much information according to different categories. Relay function increases the communication distance between fishing radios and improve the ability of saving.Ad hoc network is composed of a group of wireless mobile nodes, the nodes can network at any time according to need. Routing protocol of network layer is the study focus in maritime ultrashort wave network. Based on the study of DSR and AODV protocol, combined with the characteristics of SX08communication protocol, we propose simple routing protocol DMDR.The scheme is based on DSP and MCU hardware resource. The fishery radio can network and relay message data through the developing of MCU and DSP software. This has far-reaching significance for the fishery management, fishermen growing communication needs, the fishermen’s lives and property safety.Finally, test results prove that fishery radios have networking capability and realize the data relay function.
