At the present stage in order to solve the sharp contradictions between the increasing railway transport demands and the actual lack of railway capacity, China is making a great effort to develop high-speed electrified railway. The high-speed and efficiency property of high-speed railway proposed new requirements to the traction power supply system’s maintenance which is responsible for high-speed railways’ power supply, and catenary system as one of the major parts of the traction power system, it’s very important to improve its efficiency, rationality and normative of its day-to-day maintenance. With the rapid development of computer technology, management information systems (MIS) have become an important means for the industry to achieve their efficient management. The implementation of the catenary MIS can improve their efficient of day-to-day maintenance, provide maintenance strategy support of catenary system equipment, promote the standardization and integration of catenary day-to-day management and realize the timely information exchange of catenary management departments and their maintenance work area and subordinate agencies. Therefore researching the catenary MIS is not only having a great significance to catenary equipment’ maintenance, but also is the railway sector’s information needs.The most important theoretical basis of catenary MIS is the maintenance strategy formulation of catenary equipment. Chinese electrified railway using periodic maintenance strategy to maintain its catenary for a long time. The periodic maintenance strategy plays a positive role at the initial stage of electrified railway operation, but the maintenance cycle used by this strategy is got through the operational experience and not demonstrated by science, so with the improvement of electrified railway’s overall technology, the disadvantages periodic maintenance strategy exposed, such as lack of maintenance or excess maintenance for equipment, is getting more and more serious. In recent years some railway bureaus learn from power system and promote the state maintenance strategy, but catenary system has its own special working environment and maintenance mode and the state maintenance strategy may cause a large number of equipment out of control. So it’s imminent for high-speed railway’s development to research scientific equipment maintenance strategy for catenary system.Mainly studied in this paper includes the following aspects:(1) Catenary equipment has no spare and to guarantee the reliability is the largest principle for railway sector to maintain the catenary system. So in this paper is also based on the reliability to research the catenary equipment maintenance strategy. Several commonly used system reliability analysis method have been analyzed and compared which combined with the actual situation of the catenary system, such as Bayesian Network Model, Markov Random Model and Fault Tree Model, and the Fault Tree Model Analysis Method will be used to analysis the reliability of catenary system in this paper. And then construct the fault tree model of catenary system by collecting various information and analysis its reliability in both qualitative and quantitative ways;(2) Several relatively mature types of preventive maintenance strategy have been analyzed and compared in this paper, and Sequential Preventive Maintenance Strategy is more suitable for catenary system. The catenary maintenance strategy based on reliability has been proposed combined with former result of catenary system reliability analysis in this paper;(3) Conducted needs analysis of catenary MIS and the maintenance strategy researched in this paper is applied to the MIS and try to have a comprehensive control and management of the catenary system through the catenary MIS which designed in this paper;(4) Conducted the specific design of catenary MIS, including system architecture design, database design, and system interface design.
