With the acceleration of global integration process, international economic activities occur more and more frequently and containers throughput al e growing along with them. The role of modern port, especially modem hub port becomes prominent. Port terminal operation and management are now blending with the whole chain of transportation, storage and delivery. The traditional ways and means of management from modem container ports are no longer able to meet their needs, while more advanced and scientific management methods are urgently required. The application of advanced information processing tools and a variety of modem logistics technologies Can realize a standardized business operation, a scientific and informational business management. At the same time, the groundwork for the port containers management information is the real time acquisition and automatic recognition of containers basic data. Whether the basic data is complete or not, directly related to the successful construction on the informationized management of port containers.The profile of FICT Was introduced in this paper, and on this basis, a deeper analysis Was carried out on the physical movements and information flows of containers in this port by taking it as the original model. Its business processes were therefore combed and optimized. In order to improve the levels of containers tracking and management efficiency, RFID technology Was adopted to the containers management information system. The application scheme offered accordingly Can fulfill the basic data collection and real. Time management of containers. As a result, the operational efficiency of ports were improved and the containers management requirements from FICT as a National Class One open port were satisfied. In this paper, the application system including RFID tag auto—identification system, wireless communication system and background port container management information system were designed in detail. The key equipments and technologies including RFID tags, reader devices, wireless data communication networks, etc. were selected and defined. Containers information involved during the transportion was classified, and the storaged content and storage location in RFID tag on the containers were standardlized, which can be used as a reference to related research. Analysis and design of port container management information system were completed in this paper. Nine management functions including customer services, gates management, yards management, cargo ships management, EDI receiving and sending, operating control, container freight stations management, fee management and systems management wererealized by adopting a frontend developing tool and SQL Sever2005database a powerful data-processing. At last, an automated management platform Was offered to the containers management of FICT. With the application of the developed system, the port’S handling capacity, the yard’s storage capacity and the port’S connectivity were largely improved and the port operating level was as well improved substantially.
