Radio Frequency Identification, known as RFID or E-tag, is a non-contact automatic identification technology. Working in a variety of harsh environments, RFID can distinguish the target automatically and get the data through radio frequency signal without manual intervention. RFID comprises two parts, interrogator (or reader) and transponder (or tag). Basic working principles of RFID are not complicated. Firstly, label receiver interprets the RF signals in the magnetic field, and sends the information in chip by induced current, or sends the signal frequency automatically. Secondly, reader reads and decodes the information and sends them to central information system.Container terminal in-out yard management is nightmare to many managers. Before RFID technology is not used, workers need to check the container information, but they make mistakes sometime, so work efficiency is not high. It's error-prone that workers checked the trailer license, container number, container type, a variety of documents, platform balances and etc with their eyes in the past working. Because of in-out yard procedures are complicated, lots of vehicles are waiting in the yard and a series of traffic problems and safety issues have been triggered. The problems also lead the dissatisfaction by drivers and negative impact and lower down our company credibility. We can solve this problem with RFID technology. In this paper, author analyzes the work flow in container company and establishes of the waterfall model of top-down in layer by layer thinning. He establishes various functional modules. Author splits the information include vessel name, voyage number, container number, ISO code, order, class of dangerous goods, cold box conditions, loading conditions and so on after reading from RFID. Avoiding errors by manual entry, the system checks the RFID with the information sent by shipping companies. Using dynamic link library in AS400 system, the data is read and written by VB program, and automatic typing the Entry and F12 function key is simulated by the system, realizing the change from manual to automatic. System can analyze whether the container is over-weight by reading the weight of the container through platform balance to ensure the safe of container spreader. System also can establish data record of container to support the decision for the company.
