For semiconductor industry is rapidly developing in China, and semiconductor packaging is a very important link affecting the development of semiconductor industry, the pros and cons of semiconductor packaging technology are crucially competitive factors. Die bonding machine is mainly used for semiconductor packaging which is one of the key devices producing LED (Lighting Emitting Diode). In addition, the work efficiency of welding head is the core of die bonding machine。Its main job is to drive swing arm back and forth and move up and down5mm to accurately absorb and fix the wafer chip. And the traditional way is to adopt the servo motor to drive the CAM mechanism and four links mechanism, which has limitation of precision and can not achieve higher speed easily. In addition, the voice coil motor with dc current to directly drive the swing arm is currently studied by domestic relevant scholars. But this way has problems of insufficient rigidity and large inertia affecting die bonding machine performance.A voice coil motor is designed in the paper applied to the welding head mechanism of die bonding machine, which has such characteristics as small inertia, high speed, low vibration shock, etc. Therefore, it can improve work efficiency of the welding head of die bonding machine. In addition, this design method can provide theoretical guidance for design and manufacture of the voice coil motor.First of all, the defects in the system in which the Z axis of die bonding machine is driven up and down by the belt and CAM using the rotary servo are analyzed. The basic principle of the voice coil motor, applications, and the development situation of research theory and methods at home and abroad are investigated. According to the practical problems, this paper puts forward the scheme adopting voice coil actuators to drive directly die bonding machine welding head body up and down in the Z axis direction, and the design process of the voice coil motor’s structure. Second, use the modeling method of multiple physical field simulation software COMSOL Multiphysics4.2to establish the voice coil motor structure finite element simulation model, and verify the rationality of the design of voice coil motors through simulation. Again, apply the iterative search optimization method to analyze and research the optimization of voice coil motor structure size using the maximum ratio of output force to the total movement part mass as the target under a certain volume. Finally, the control module functions of ADAMS mechanical dynamics simulation software was used to the control simulation analysis of displacement switch with force of the voice coil motor and optimize the PID control parameters, which provides theoretical guidance for better debugging and controlling the voice coil motor.Through analysis and design of voice coil motor used in the die bonding machine welding head mechanism, the simulation results demonstrate the validity and practicability of the proposed modeling theory in this article.
