City is an important carrier of global economic activities, political activities, and cultural development. In the context of economic globalization, the city construction and transmission of culture has become an important bargaining chip of competition between cities. In order to stand out from fierce competition, cities all around the world have to focus on the spread and development of urban culture. In the face of new challenges in the new period, it is of great significance to rethink the issue of the spread of city magazines, and explore how to effectively use the communication strategy to build Wuhan urban culture brand. The Great Wuhan, the only city magazine in Wuhan, is an important medium for the spread of the local urban culture. It has a practical application significance to study the spread of Wuhan culture through the Great Wuhan. Therefore, city magazine on the spread of urban culture becomes the research topic of this article.This topic is divided into three parts. The first part is the introduction, summary the results and shorts of the previous studies and propose the theoretical basis, research ideas and overview urban culture, and provide a theoretical basis for the content of the later analysis. The second part is the emphasis and innovative part of this study. The second part analyzes the meaning of the sample, the purpose and columns of the Great Wuhan, and the content of the sample. This topic classify the samples of the Great Wuhan according to the constitute of the city cultural content, finishing classified and charting to analyze the performance in the spread of Wuhan culture. The third part analyzes the current situation of city magazine, find the problems encountered in the dissemination of city magazine, and propose solutions. Therefore, propose that in order to broaden the dissemination of the city magazine, on the operating shape the city magazine brand awareness; on the quality strengthen the urban culture making system to enhance the cultural taste of the city magazine; on the path achieve cross-media integration, optimize city magazine spread effect.This paper, through in-depth study of the subject, provides some workable ideas and methods for city magazine transmission, at the same time provide a new perspective and strategy on how to improve competitiveness for the Great Wuhan which is meeting new development opportunities.
