A Study On Wuhan Mainstream Newspapers' Development On The Background Of Urban Agglomeration

The Wuhan city agglomeration is a regional integrated body, which is the most industries-and- elements of productivity intensified and most energetic areas in Hubei Province. It takes Wuhan as the core, Huang Shi, E Zhou, Xiao Gan, Huang Gang, Xian Ning, Xian Tao, Tian Men, Qian Jiang as its periphery. The rising of urban clusters centered by mega cities is an unchangeable trend as economic globalization and regional integration develops. Yangtze River delta, Pearl River Delta, Bohai Sea Gulf Delta are the three big city circles that lead the formation of city circles and set examples for construction of Wuhan city agglomeration.This dissertation takes the mainstream newspaper of Wuhan city agglomeration as the object of the research and analyses the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of these newspaper by SWOT theory. Subsequently we analyses the media ecological environment based on theories of intermediary-bionomics and intermediary-economics. Firstly, the interactivity of the regional media group and regional economy. Secondly, the regional integration brings changes to the flows of logistics, capital and human resources. New target audience developed by the emergence of Wuhan city agglomeration will highlight on information about policies, business and society. Thirdly, as the regional economic integrates, the journalism industry will transcend original administrative division notion and pursue more extent and possible market space, which may result in changes on trends of media integration.In the end of this dissertation, we make a discussion on countermeasures about how to upgrade mainstream newspaper of Wuhan city agglomeration under the development of the Wuhan city agglomeration through using experience of media group clusters of Yangtze River delta, Pearl River Delta for reference.
