Yao ethnic is a shifting cultivation nation with a long history. Pan Yao is one branch of Yao ethnic, and they kept much literature called Guoshanbang, which records the history of them. The propagation of Guoshanbang was more and more widely with the migrating of Yao ethnic. Guoshanbang was propagated so widely that it can be found on the Yao ethnic abroad. The classic contents of Guoshanbang are as follows:Panhu, a dog of the King whose name was Ping, helped the King kill the enemy, then the dog married the daughter of the King. Since then, they had been living in the Kuaiji mountain, and gave birth to six boys and six girls, which were given twelve surname. The Yao ethnic were given the right to manage the mountain, shifting cultivation without tax. However, much new contents were added to the classic literature in the development of Yao ethic, and the new contents were colser to the truth of the history than the classic contents. So it is important to make a study of these additional content. The key point of this article is to sort out preliminary of Guoshanbang. Depending on its substance, the literature were placed under different categories, and then they were researched respectively. We found many related records in Chinese historical documents. Through the Chinese historical records, we make a try to prove the contents of Guoshanbang are real. Further, we analysed the underlying message of them. This article includes seven parts, they are the preface, the conclusion, four chapters and the appendix. The first chapter analyses a few pieces of Guoshanbang about crossbowman of Yao ethnic. Based on the similarities and differences between literature, we divide them into three categories, and analyze the relationship between them. Finally, we make a cursory analysis and carding for the history of the government recruiting crossbowman of Yao ethnic. The second chapter discusses the Guoshanbang which recorded the process of Yao ethnic moved into Jianghua, these literature was kept in Jianghua Yao ethnic autonomous county and the counties nearby. This type of literature mainly recorded the history of the Ming Dynasty, but they were very messy. This chapter, on the one hand, puts these literature in order again, trying to return them to the original condition; on the other hand, speculates the time they had been written and the underlying message of them. The third chapter discusses the nature of several official document included in Guoshanbang. These official document maintained its original shape, and has high historical value. This chapter starts from the document and the chinese historical records interrelated, and determines that, one of them had been written on the second year of Zhengde in Ming dynasty, and the others were written in Qing dynasty. The last part of this chapter introduces the underlying message of them. The fourth chapter discusses several terms appeared in the Guoshanbang, such as "Painian"、"Zhaozhu"and "Zhaozhupainian". These terms appeared frequently in the chinese historical records in Ming and Qing dynasty. The discussing of these terms is a strong corroboration for the written time mentioned earlier. The appendix is an additional part of the article referenced in the Guoshanbung. This part bases on the Ping huang quan die ji hian writeen by Huangyu. Then, we compare the Ping huang quan die ji bian with Yaozu guoshanbang xuanbian which sources the same literature with the Ping huang quart die ji bian. We mark out the differences between them in order to reduce the error duing to the transcribed or typographical, and make it closer to the original appearance.
