Fiber Optic Sensor is a new member of the sensor family.It is sensitive, accurate, adaptable,compact and intelligent. The architecture uses the Fiber Bragg gratings(FBGs) with the same central wavelength and low reflectivity as sensors. Sensing signals will be integrated into the EPON system without changing it's architecture.Besides we use OTDR technology to position. This sensor system will have good application in the furture.Quasi-distributed sensing networks can provide Value-added Provision with low cost.A novel passive optical access network capable of providing fire alarming services has proposed in this project. Which makes PON to be a Integrated Service Digital Network (ISDN) with fault location, and security monitoring functions. We also improved the demodulation method, in order to reduce the cost which have paved the way for the commercialization of the system. Main tasks are as follows:1. Proposed and analysised a novel passive optical access network capable of providing fire alarming services;2. Did some experiments on the passive optical access network which capable of providing fire alarming services, tested it's fire protection properties and observed the whole system's stability. System's response time is less than 1 second, and it's spatial resolution are 50 meters, monitoring scope are more than 5km. Also it's fire protection distance are more than 5km with less than 70s response time;3. Presentsed a new type of FBG wavelength demodulation system to improve the system with demodulation accuracy of 10pm and high stability. We achieved a low-cost fiber-optic passive value-added services access network;4. Completed the system's software components, and implemented the systems;5. Completed the PRC telecommunications industry standards: Intelligent Passive Optical Access Network Capable of Providing Fire Alarming Services. The standard has currently submitted to the China Communications Standards Association. The project is discussing.
