With virtual reality technology and computer graphics development, the network of three-dimensional technology--Web3D is concerned more and more. X3D is the Internet3D Graphics software standards internationally, it is defined as interoperable, scalable, cross-platform Web3D content standards. XML-encoded X3D is the integration of XML,Java,Java3D,MPEG4technology, with a powerful, efficient three-dimensional computing power, rendering quality and speed. This paper studys plant-based three-dimensional model of X3D generation and optimization by the design and implementation of virtual plant landscape, then in the Java platform, according to the encoding of X3D’s XML features, gives a parametric construction of virtual plant landscape by interacting with the three-dimensional model prototype of plants. It mainly includes four parts:(1) Three-dimensional model of the plant modeling methods were studied compared, and based on L-system theory proposed to build three plants X3D model.(2) X3D three-dimensional model of the plant modeling and optimization, and summed up the simplified view methods about X3D model,these methods have been proposed here to improve the efficiency of X3D scenes.(3) In the Java platform, gives a parametric assembly of solutions for three-dimensional model X3D by X3D SAI. The mechanism of interaction between X3D language and Java language is studied, the method of communication with X3D、XML、Java is proposed, combined with SQL databases to achieve the parametric design features about a virtual plant landscape.(4) Designed and implemented a virtual plant landscape of the parametric design system, combined with JDBC technology and XML technology, completed to build the a virtual plant landscape based on X3D by parametric methods.The research provides an effective solution for building a virtual plant model and designing the X3D virtual scene generation tool.
