Now Multifunctional integrate circuit and Multi Chip Module are widely used in RF communication system. Single function RF(radio frequency) MMIC and module are displaced gradual by multifunctional Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) using these new technologies. Multifunctional Application Specific Integrated Circuit can make RF circuit design easy and it is gradual used in base station of GSM and TD-SCDMA communication systems. These Multi Chip Module consist of frequency conversion and amplifier, or many Variable Gain Amplifier channels. They can simplify RF circuits and will be direction of RF technology. This paper presents the design of four-channel variable gain amplifier module. This product includes GaAs amplifier、digital attenuator、switch、 power divider and TTL driver. These chips have been assembled into one Land Grid Array(LGA) package. This ASIC can be described as complicated functions and integrates multi-channels.All of the GaAs chips have been product by PHMET process. TTL driver has been product by Si CMOS process. GaAs PHEMT chip integrates amplifier、 digital attenuator、switch and power divider. TTL driver circuit is a serial to parallel chip using Si CMOS. This analysis focuses on the process、 device-model、circuit-design and layout of these chips. On the other hand, this paper briefly introduces the development of RF MCM technology actuality and discusses produce technique of MCM. Because the product of this task is used MCM-L technique to finished, one of the emphases of this article is research of MCM-L.The MCM product has been finished in this idem using integrated chip and MCM-L process. The product is finished testing and it has taken well effect in test of the sample machine.
