With titanium and titanium alloy products in application ifeld of national defense andcivil market expanding,the quality of products becomc more and more important. In order toimprove the capacity and quality of consumable electrode, the article combined with thevacuum plasma welding equipment of Western Superconducting Mateirals Science andTechnology Limited Company, analyzed the cratf of electrode production and characteirsticsof equipment, and established the requirements of the vacuum plasma welding system and thecontrol scheme. Set up the mathematical model of the control system, reseacrhed Fuzzy PIDcontroller for the location welding torch. The vacuum plasma welding control system wasdeveloped based on fieldbus.The industiral Ethernet, PROFIBUS and RS-485ifeldbus were used as the systemnetwork structure. IPC, PLC and intelligent instruments constituted the control system, andHMI was developed on upper computer. Set up the mathematical model according to therelation between arc voltage and length. By the compairson between traditional PID controland fuzzy control presented Fuzzy PID control strategy according with system requirements.The control algoirthm was achieved by the sotfware of KINGVIEW, realized the real timecontrol of position for welding torch.Through debugging and commissioning, the control system based on fieldbus fulfill thecontrol and operation requirements, improved the stability, anti-jamming and expansibility ofthe system. The fuzzy PID control for welding torch not only improved welding ability,avoided the accident, but also improved the quality. The study of control system shows thatthe system has a wide application value.
