With the booming development of public in China, people put forward higher request about living environment, intelligent meter reading system also gets the vigorous development. At present, the traditional manual copy meter has not adapt to the development of the society needs. So the paper researched a new meter reading plan-the wireless intelligent meter reading system.Based on analyzing the current gas automatic meter reading systems at home and abroad, this paper researched the framework of wireless intelligent meter reading system. Then in this paper, the hardware and software of this system are designed and realized. The design of handset concentration and the collector are based on the modular thought, given a specific circuit design. With the study of specific communication protocol it design the software of the system. The upper layer software mainly realizes the communication with the instrument the centre of the meter reading management system and the terminal. The lower layer management software realize the data transmission to the upper layer network. And the paper uses the database technology center to realize the design of the center manage system. Finally, it proposes a scheme of constructing GPRS wireless transmission network.Using electronic technology, automatic control technology, computer technology and communication technology wireless intelligent meter reading system realize the computerized management of metering fuel gas. It greatly reduces the meter reading the workload of workers and the human factors caused a series of error factor and improve the fuel gas management level of automation.
