Professional and scholarly publishing was one of the most successful areas of digital publishing. Online publishing platform (Intersciencc) of John Willy’s Publishing Group had built several large professional database covering the fields of science, technology, medical and scholarly publishing. The world’s largest digital network publisher Thomson Corporation acquired Reuters in2008, so it had lots of money. Many people in the field of publishing in USA found that readers had got used to get a lot of free information from the Internet. So to change marketing model was the choice of traditional publishers and they were to take measures gradually. These measures were intended to enable readers to obtain needed information with only using computer. The construction of digital medical journals can not only provide users with fast and convenient services to, but also brought a new profit model for medical journals. In a word, At present the digital publication of the foreign medical journals had a higher level and they had formed a large scale.Domestic backgroundOur country had adopted a series of policies to support medical journals digital publishing. Digital publishing as a strategic emerging industries had been included in the new plan. Press and publication administration issued two new policies in order to support the digitization of the journals published.These strong policies had provided many guarantees for digital publishing by leaps and bounds. Although Chinese and foreign digital publishing started almost in the same time,they were no longer in the same level at present after many years. There were many problems on domestic medical journals.such as, reliance on traditional publishing methods severely, unusly network, attach unimportance to digital publishing and so on. They were in a dispersed state.ObjectiveThe trend of scientific and technical journals digital publishing has been overwhelming. Experienced three major technological breakthroughs in the21st century, digital publishing had taken place in earth-shaking changes. Although domestic medical journals developed rapidly, there were still many problems. There were many characteristicses on the medical journals,such as, required rapid publication, contented lots of information, and reflected the latest developments in the medical profession rapidly. Retrieving medical literatures from the internet has become an important part of medical research. The purpose of this study is to propose a solutionon on digital publishing of domestic medical journals.Through the survey on domestic medical journals,we attempted to know the status of the domestic medical journals digital publishing.Then, we analyzed the growth factors which affect the domestic medical journals digital publishing combining with SWOT analysis and case study.We tried to figure out the problems which exist in the domestic medical journals digital publishing and the crux of digital publishing.Methods(1) Literature search method:Through online access to periodicals, Google Academic, Baidu and other information and documentation of access to the medical journals digital publishing, we downloaded a lot of literature in order to access to the most basic documents needed by the subject. We analysised the status quo of the development of domestic and foreign medical journals digitized in order to tip existing inadequacies of the domestic medical journals in digital publishing. We analyzed problems and proposed solutions countermeasures.(2) Questionnaire:According to<A Guide to the Core Journals of China>(2008) as the sampling frame, I randomly selected100medical journal editorial departments for the samples to be investigated.(3) Telephone counseling:In order to more comprehensive collection of the published by the domestic medical journals digital technology developments in information, mainly to collect domestic medical journals digital’s attitude and understanding of the degree, they collect domestic medical journals figures of the published development of good advice.By quantitative analysis of the electronic questionnaire collected data for statistical analysis and then through the qualitative research, we summarized the advantages and disadvantages of the domestic medical journals digital publishing development and strived to propose solutions to the current lack of response.ResultsAccording to the literature search we found that the main problem in the domestic medical journals was the original journal of science and technology management system which had been outdated., so journals reform must start from here.The reform of the domestic medical journals should begin from internationlization, cluster, specialization, digital and stroke along the original unit in charge and organizers relations. Government departments should give preferential policies in terms of public interest publishing, non-profit publishing or open access.It is benfit for digital produt to be recognized..(4) According to the methods of questionnaire survey and telephone counseling, the outcome are as follows:Institute accounted for about19.7%, colleges and universities accounted for about33%and association accounted for about26%, other accounted for21.3%.First, About85%journals have accomplished the online office;About47%medical journals have use edting system to recive letters and contract with experts and few of them using e-mail; About50percent of the journals treat with manuscripts by computer and small part of them use paper manuscript. Proofreading of the manuscript, Mainly through electronic documents, few of paper proofreading account for about64%.Second, in typesetting, printing and distribution, the medical journals use Founder FIT and Founder fly accounting for42percents and35percents.Most of the journals use databases,such as CNKI,Wanfang,Weipu.Third, the post office remittances account for about48%in the issue of management,, more traditional way. Electronic promote the use of About52%of the journals simply use the site of electronic to promote, the use of other forms of less.Fourth, though94%of journals have their own independent websites, the websites have many defects,such as update slowly, single function, low utilization and so on.Compared with the journals of foreign countries, the degree of digitization of medical journals in China hang behind. True sense of the digital publishing is still in the exploratory stage. We can not consider that the web page construction of journal as digital publishing, moreover, we can not be take the construction of online as digital publishing too.ConclusionLooking forward to the relationship between traditional publishing and digital publishing, I believe that they will be a very long period of time or never co-exist, but digital publishing is a general trend in the long run. Domestic medical medical journals have to cast away illusions, change concepts and seize the opportunities digital publishing. However, because there is a big gap between domestic medical journals and foreign medical journals in digital publication, so we must have a right attitude that we should follow the step by step according to local conditions. Historical development of law show that every change will be able to accomplish something if we are creative and brave, otherwise it will fail.
