Urban development level has become the main factor to measure the nationalmodernization level during the nation’s modernization. But because of the Tool rationalcharacteristic modernization itself restrains People’s spiritual, it leads to a lot of countriesappear a kind of paradox in the urbanization development. That is people in city life on onehand enjoy a highly developed material life while on the other hand suffering the increasingspiritual emptiness and emotional light. If a city want to have a long-term development, itmust have to form o kind of city humanistic spirit which can have people’s spirit cohesion,otherwise it will difficult to have a common struggle of force. So in modern environment,strengthen the city construction of humanistic spirit, is not only the needs of the individualspiritual world, but also the need to create a city’s soft power and form the urban sustainabledevelopment power. This article do the research on the current city humanistic spiritconstruction situation of our country based on this purpose.This paper is divided into six parts, the main contents are as follows.Part one is introduction section, it points out the research purpose of this article, whichuses the western modernization perspective as reference, survey and explore Chinesesituation of city’s humanistic spirit construction at present comprehensively. So that canprovide more appropriate humanities construction path in the process of the development ofChinese cities. It also summarized the research status in relevance flied at home and abroad,took literature research and case study combined as method, hoping to break through the oldrelated study which was too keen to medium or micro theory discussion while lacking ofmacro perspective. It will analyses Chinese situation of city’s humanistic spirit construction atpresent form the macro level of the modernization as well as combine with specific theory ofmedium view to make up for the defect and shortage of previous related research.Part two is a fundamental overview, it discusses the concept of modernization, pointsout that modernization is a compound concept, which including material form and cultureform. Then it proved the rationality of using the angle of modernization to do the researchon city’s humanity spirit construction, that is in the process of modernization, Urbanization and modernization is highly relevant, the former is usually regarded as the latter’srepresentation, study urbanization can not without modernization, and the appearing of citydisease in the process of modernization of western countries made people must understandthe essential connotation of modernization, while not only focus on the external physicalform.
