Research On The Strategies Of The Publication Of Top-quality Books In Gansu Province

The cultural construction was discussed as an issue of national strategy during the Sixth Plenum of the17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It was proposed to "promote the cultural creation, establish an awareness of high-quality, and comprehensively improve the quality of cultural products". In Gansu Province, it was decided to "build a culturally powerful province" during the Twelfth Party Congress of Gansu Province. Having the ancient culture, rich cultural resources and cultural celebrity men, Gansu Province is an important treasure house of Chinese cultural resources, therefore it should have some achievements on the top-quality books which could reflect the will of the state, promote the Chinese civilization and the spirit of the times.Under the background of promoting vigorous cultural development and prosperity, this thesis presents the concept of the publication of top-quality books. It is based on an overall probe into the reality of the publication of top-quality books in Gansu Province, is also the result of absorption of the publication theories both at home and abroad. It analyzes the histories of the publishing institutions and the publication of top-quality books in Gansu Province for more than60years since1949, especially the history for more than30years since the Reform and Opening up, objectively evaluates the status quo of "Strong Journals and Weak books" in the publication industry in Gansu Province. The thesis praises the achievements in the press service, points out the problems that the books published in Gansu Province are always absented from the national book awards in recent years. This thesis analyzes the main reason for lack of top-quality books in Gansu Province in consideration of the aspects of ideological concepts, product structure, institutional mechanisms, funding support and human resources. This thesis proposes that the provincial administration department of publication should seize the unprecedented opportunity that the Party and the Government are paying more attention on the prosperity and development of cultural undertakings and supporting the economic and social development in Gansu Province, take on the special mission entrusted by the times, strengthen the leadership, improve the evaluation systems and management systems. It also proposes that the administration department should make the most of the advantage of geo-cultural resources to successfully complete the six projects--the New Rural Construction in Northwest Region, the National Culture Construction in Northwest Region, the Silk Road and Dunhuang Culture, Central Asian Studies, Gansu History and Culture, the Modern Culture Construction in Gansu Province, to establish the scientific publishing system for the top-quality books.With the strong sense of crisis and sense of mission and responsibility for publishing the top-quality books in Gansu Province, the author not only conducted in-depth investigation and analysis, but also made some countermeasures and suggestions from the viewpoint of a provincial administration department of publication. The language used in this thesis is natural and the datum reliable. This thesis has a great reference meaning for making a grand future for the publication of the top-quality books in Gansu Province.
