Bibliometric Analysis For Agricultural Journal Papers In Gansu Province

Agriculture is the foundation of the national economy. The contribution ratio of Science and Technologyof Agriculture in Gansu province is48%. Bibliometrics is widely used to analyze the research outputs of groups, with the analysis of science and technology papers directing scientific research management, however the study on the regional, provincial agricultural output of scientific papers is currently limited. Using the China Academic Journal Network Publishing Database (CAJD) and Science Citation Index (SCI), this Paper uses bibliometrics to analyse the distributions of years, journals, authors, organizations, key words and subjects of the agricultural scientific papers from Gansu province published in domestic and foreign journals between2002and2011. Knowledge Mapping Software was adopted to construct the visual co-occurrence maps of authors, organizations and keywords, to show the output of the agricultural scientific papers of Gansu province in an intuitive visual way. The results are listed follow:1, During2002-2011, the number of agricultural scientific papers from Gansu province published in domestic and foreign journals increased year by year. The number of the papers published in domestic journals increased by94.03%with an average annual growth rate of7.64%; the number of the papers published in foreign journals increased by425.53%with annual growth rate of20.24%. The results show that the agricultural research strength of Gansu is increasing, and the forward-looking nature and significance of achievement is enhanced and accepted by international peers.2, During2002-2011, nine of the top ten journals(Gansu Agricultural Science and Technology, Gansu Agriculture, Agricultural Science&Technology information, Journal of Gansu Agricultural University, Pratacultural Science, Gansu Science and Technology, Journal of Gansu Forestry Science and Technology, Gansu Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Journal of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Journal of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine) are published in Lanzhou, and few of them are famous. Only four journals, in which the number of papers published is over200, are included in the top100journals of the agricultural science and technology field of CAJD.3, During2002-2011, the authors of Gansu province who published papers cooperated widely, but the number of core authors is limited. Based on the statistics, the ratio of the authors who published only1paper in domestic and foreign journals was48.26%and57.71%, whereas the ratio of the authors who published less than10papers in domestic and foreign journals was91.62%and96.32%.4, Universities and research institutions are in the leading position in the field of agricultural research systems in Gansu province, bearing the main task of technology development, personnel training and technology innovation of the agriculture. For the papers which are included in CAJD, there are25organizations with the occurrence frequency of over100instances, including12universities (48%) and12research institutions (48%). For the papers which are included in SCI, there are29organizations with occurrence frequency over10instances, including18universities (62.07%) and10research institutions (34.48%). There is wide cooperation between the organizations.5, The research described within agricultural scientific papers from Gansu province focused primarily on Production, Cultivation techniques. For the papers which are included in CAJD, the words’Greenhouse’and’Cultivation Techniques’have the highest frequency of occurrence and most instances co-occurrence. For papers included in SCI,’bactrian camel’,’compositae’ and ’Nitric oxide’ have the highest frequency of occurrence, and’water use efficiency’ and ’irrigation’ have the greatest co-occurrence between8key words separately. The research priority is wheat production under the Arid Regions irrigation systems of Loess Plateau.6, The popular disciplines of the papers cited in CAJD are Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, Horticulture, Crop, while the advantage disciplines of the papers which included in SCI are Plant Sciences, Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Biochemistry&Molecular Biology.
