With the further development of enterprise information technology, discrete manufacturing enterprises are facing more and more continuous variable customer needs and increasingly fierce global competition in the market. A good adaptive information platform becomes one of the key competitive abilities for the enterprises to improve market competitive ability and obtain customer orders. To meet the market’s requirements, the ability of the enterprise to provide the lowest cost and the best quality products in a shorter time, becomes the key for manufacturing enterprises to survive and get further development in the increasingly fierce competition today.Product Data Management (PDM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) are two kinds of advanced manufacturing and management technologies in manufacturing industry. Recently, they both or single are applied more and more by enterprises. Their applications have been brought considerable economic benefits. However, with the further development of manufacturing enterprises, the management and optimization of resource quantity are needed. And a number of shared information is existed between these software systems, so there is some redundancy and inconsistent situation both in technical functions and in data. In the face of these problems, many enterprises are afraid of difficulties met at data information integration and give up further information process.According to the actual characteristics of products design and production management in textile machinery enterprise, combined with its information goal, the bill of material (BOM) in PDM and ERP is focused and its data collection, analysis and conversion are studied. Then a proposal is put forward to integrate PDM and ERP effectively. So data redundancy and information island effect are reduced during products design and production management. And fast and accurately delivery of the information between PDM and ERP is realized. It ensures the balance and continuity in production.The main work includes the following several aspects:1. BOM in textile machinery manufacturing enterprise is studied. When a new customer order is arrived, a new design is needed, EBOM will be also modified, and then a new EBOM will be sent to the process department. They will make new process routes and PPBOM. By means of EBOM, PPBOM and operation plan, MBOM will be established in the workshop. According to different department needs for BOM, the integrated BOM model is established and optimization of the algorithm for form transition of BOM is proposed.2. The frame of the integrated system is studied. Because C/S frame is adopted in PDM, while B/S frame is adopted in ERP, in order to realize the information collection and conversion between different software frames, and ensure smaller redundancy and higher accuracy of the data, based on a unified data storage process, the integrated software system is designed and realized finally.3. According to the actual effect of PDM and ERP during the product design and production management in the enterprise, the system is optimized further.
