The bandwidth of the channel is the most important thing in the internet transport. For reduce the transmission of the same application, improve the channel utilization, reduce the roundtrip response time of interactive applications, the IETF working group put forward a robust header compression(ROHC)protocol in2001. The ROHC protocol can be adapted to the high error rate, long round trip delay, communication the poor quality of the radio link, and has very good compression performance and robustness.This paper is based on the ROHC protocol actual development projects as the basis, introduces the working principle of ROHC protocol, working process, compression header type information, working mode, working state, compressed package types and feedback mechanism. Combined with the project of the software development process, this paper describes the ROHC system’s function module and system structure, introduces in details of the compression, decompression and the feedback mechanism processing flow, then the research of the protocol core algorithm for research and implementation.Using the C language for the code to achieve on ROHC protocol in the VC environment, then gave the PDCP layer and ROHC programming interface in detail. Through the real data test environment, the ROHC program has been to improve the quality and system optimization. According to the testing results, we affect program compression rate and robustness of parameters critical for debugging, has been applied to the procedure of optimal parameter configuration. After the ROHC program performance analysis, indicate that ROHC program on information header compression ratio can reach80%-90%, in a variety of network link simulation test were also has good robustness.
