With the improvement of the production process of building products and accelerated paceof urbanization, a large number of building materials produced by new production processingtechnology have been pushed to market in recent years. Since our country has a vast territory,both climate environment and cultural environment from different regions have significantdifference respectively, then building materials are diverse. Furthermore, building materials notonly contain the attribute information about categories, but also contain the numerical values onindex information. As a result, for a mass of building products, it is an urgent problem formaterial buyers who are not familiar with indices information to choose appropriate buildingmaterials products.Existing search technologies about building products mostly calculate the similarity byproduct categories and attribute values of product information to match categorical data, such asbrand, model and so on. Supported by National Key Technology Program, this paper studies theintelligent query technology for the numerical data of building products. We propose the methodfor constructing building products knowledge base and the intelligent query method for buildingproducts based on the knowledge base. Finally, we apply the intelligent query method into thedatabase software system for town house building products and components.Through the research on domain knowledge of building products, this paper constructsbuilding products knowledge base appropriate to intelligent query. Knowledges are classifiedinto common sense knowledge, generalized knowledge and choose knowledge. Common senseknowledge is generated by product category information. The detailed numerical index ofgeneralized knowledge is obtained by generalizing information. Choose knowledge is the set ofgeneralized levels of products; it correlates with the generalized levels of products’ properties toreflect comprehensively attributes of products described by itself.This paper proposes the intelligent query method for building products based on knowledgebase in order to provide fuzzy query on products indices for non-expert users. We generateconceptual data of initial data according to knowledge base, and retrieval query results bymapping query criteria into conceptual data. Users can provide the conceptual input, then it istransformed to a range query; users get results from data in conceptual layer finally. Extensiveexperimental studies on a series of real town house building products datasets demonstrate thatthe proposed method is effective and more practical and efficient than the basic method.In this paper, we design and implement the database software system for town housebuilding products and components and apply intelligent query technology to it. The system cansatisfy query demands for users with different knowledge levels and is significant to spread town house building products in our country.
