Domain Chinese Understanding (DCU) was applied to the Man-machine interface of Expert System of Machining Process Design, by analyzing of the user requirements in Chinese language style, the results were converting into requirement of conceptual design, which could make the expert system more intelligent and humanistic. In view of the demand of DCU for knowledge representation and Knowledge Base (KB), with existing methods of knowledge representation, established Knowledge Base, designed and realized the corresponding Knowledge Base Management System (KBMS).First, has analyzed the natural language, as well as the development of KB system, the KB technology to understand system was playing the very important role. By contrasting advantage and disadvantage to knowledge representation, Conceptual Dependency (CD) theory and Production System was chosen as a method of knowledge representation. Second, analyzing has been made on the concept, attribute of concept, nature of concept and the relationship between intension and extension of concept and the correlation of concepts in KB, provided the theory support for later establishment of Domain Process Tree model. Third, through carrying on the classification and the reorganization to knowledge in the KB, used Domain Process Tree and CD tree to carry on the knowledge representation, reduced the KB redundancy and simplified the KB and saved the storage space and enhanced system's efficiency. The KBMS was designed to execute the management and the maintenance. At last, the KB of DCU was applied to interface of expert system of the machining process design, and built the KBMS. The system runs well after debug.
