Electromagnetic spectrum monitoring and wireless sensor network are widely used in military and civilian aspects. However, the traditional electromagnetic spectrum monitoring equipment has such disadvantages as large bulk, difficult to move, low accuracy, large power consumption and so on. At the same time, there are also some limitations on the transmission distance and speed for traditional wireless sensor network. Therefore, the study of small and integrated electromagnetic spectrum monitoring system based on wireless sensor network with large-scale, high-density, high-precision, high-speed, low power and integration of a variety of transmission methods, is of great practical significance.Electromagnetic spectrum monitoring system based on wireless sensor network consists of sensors, digital control panel and transmission system. Sensors are used to monitor and collect the information of spectrum, digital control panel is in charge of data processing, and transmission system is responsible for the communication among different sensor nodes. The paper makes a thorough research on the transmission of wireless sensor network. Two transmission solutions, WiFi and ZigBee supporting self-organizing network, are desiged and implemented. In the paper, ARM processor, AT91SAM9G45, is used as the control center, with which WiFi and ZigBee connect via USB and UART. Based on this hardware platform, driver and application programs are programmed to achieve the normal operation of the entire network.
