Recently, with the development of wireless network and sensor technique, wireless data acquisition and transmission have become the focus of people’s attention. Zigbee is a new kind of short distance wireless data acquisition technique. While the technique of Wifi has large coverage radius and its capacity is larger, the speed of transmission is very fast. Considering the different characteristics of these techniques and the future development of monitoring system, the paper designs a monitoring system based on Zigbee and Wifi mixing techniques. The system designed in the paper does not have the traditional wired monitoring system of high energy consumption, complicated circuit layout and high cost problems.First of all, according to the requirements of monitoring system, the terminal is based on CC2530 chip manufactured by TI as the core of the wireless terminal node. the paper designs the corresponding sensor interface and necessary peripheral circuit. the paper realizes the construction of wireless terminal hardware. Then, according to the requirements of gateway, the paper selects the CC2530 by TI company and RT5350 of Wifi chip by Taiwan as central chips of gateway, with the corresponding storage chip, the communicate interface and other circuits. So far, the hardware of system based on Zigbee and Wifi mixing techniques is completed. Next, the paper introduces the use of develop tools and the flow chart of each function node.Then, the paper designs the generator monitoring system based on Zigbee and Wifi mixing techniques. The monitoring system of generator mainly includes data acquisition terminal, gateway centralized controller and monitoring software. Finally, the paper makes some specific tests of the system, the results of tests show that the system can basically realize a predetermined function and achieve requirements of the monitoring system.
