In modem logistics, access to information and both real-time and accuracy processing is the key to the success of the logistics management, which requires the transportation of goods being timely and accurately to reach their destination taking the best path. And more, long-distance,large-scale inter-provincial trade and border trade transportation becomes more frequently required high demands for safe transportation. Therefore, how to improve the security of the long-distance transportation, to ensure the arrival of the goods timely, and to safeguard the smooth traffic become urgent problems to logistics and traffic management department. To solve the above problems, it needs real-time detection and tracking of cargo transportation. Gradual popularization of wireless location technology in civilian areas, and the wide application of the GSM digital cellular mobile communication network have opened up new ideas to solve these problems. These technologies can facilitate real-time location of vehicles, tracking and monitoring, distress alarm, vehicle accident analysis, greatly improve safety and efficacy for transportation.The subjects choose ARM9platform as the hardware basis for the system, embedded Linux operating system, using GPRS wireless communication, and it comes out a real-time and more reliable logistics tracking system. In the system, control center can provide a best route-selection algorithm, which greatly reduces the cost of logistics, and effectively improve the punctuality of goods when arrived.On the basis of a large number of domestic and foreign information, this article introduces ARM technology system applications, GPS technology, GPRS technology and best route algorithm needs analysis firstly. Then, it details of the design of the system hardware, including the interface circuits, GPS module, GPRS module hardware design. Followed by above, it introduces software platform structures, the start method for the Bootloader, the development process for device driver and the QT/Embedded development environment to build, as well as data extraction of the GPS status and send them to the monitoring center server through GPRS network. Finally this article describes the design of best-route algorithm for monitoring center and gives the structure of the prototype test.
