Nowadays the police service work is increasingly demanding timeliness and mobility, so how to satisfy the police officers in the "mobile" work in obtaining the suspect's information effectively, is the important development direction to achieve the police service work informationization, intellectualized and strengthening police by science and technology. Considering the deficiency of the obtaining the information of suspects on police vehicle, this paper designed a suspects'information searching system for police vehicle based on ARM9 and GPRS, using the embedded technology and mobile communication technology. And by using this device, the police on the vehicle could check out detailed suspect information economically, fast and real time, and also could maintain the information communication with the control center. This system provides a real-time and mobile criminal database and the powerful information source for the police officers.Firstly, after analyzing the development status of vehicle terminals and the technical characteristics, this paper proposed the police vehicle criminal information referral system's software and hardware overall project design and the principle of work. Then the detailed circuit designs of each function module are given, including the minimum system of hardware, human-computer interaction circuit, the serial port and USB host interface circuit, the connected circuit of GPRS module, focusing on the designing of the vehicle power supply circuit.Then the detailed method of constructing platform for embedded software development based on S3C2410 and the LINUX is given out. At the same time, the necessary software environment which the application software movement needs was established. Mainly including:the cross compiling environment's construction, the configuration and transplantation of bootloader on u-boot, file system's manufacture, focusing on the tailoring and transplantation of the Linux kernel based on this hardware platform and the USB host driver-related configuration. And the brief test to this platform and USB HOST interface has been carried.After researching the development process of Linux device driver, the detailed development of the GPRS-driven is introduced, on the basis of the driver, the MiniGUI development environment is built, and the thesis designed the graphical user interface (GUI) of the read-write system for police vehicle using development tools—MiniGUI, as well as the development of the application software. Then the criminal information retrieval functions was realized after researching the detailed principle and the process of U plate document read-write; the realization of the GPRS wireless criminal message data transmission after the implementation of PPP automatic dialing connection under Linux and the network programming of SOCKET; the development of GPRS voice communication is completed using AT command.Finally, the operation process of the read-write system for police vehicle is briefly descripted, and the test of the criminal suspect information inquiry function is also carried out. And the characteristics of the system and the thesis work is summarized, the system problems and the improvement program are also proposed. As well as proposing some suggestion on further develop and system optimization.
