In the present informationized society people are in great demand for access to information sharing and communication for better and more efficient fulfillment. As an interactive information system the remote control desplay becomes more and more attractive and widely applied in fields such as outdoor advertising, presentations, exhibitions, leasing, sports and transportation. But when the control system and display end are installed in different physical locations the traditional wired communication appears rather inconvenient. To overcome the annoyance the project takes advantage of wireless communication to carry out remote display, update of data, instantaneous monitoring and timed turning on or off large screeens. With high efficiency yet low cost it is extremely easy to install and use.Based on GPRS, the project involves the overall design and research of the remote control display system, discussing the status quo of its development, the background and significance of domestic and overseas research. With reliable technology and theoretical support, the project has completed a series of hardware and software design aiming at performing the functions of the system. Thoroughly compared the ARM9-based UP-NetARM2410-S is used as the control core, the most typical SIM300 as the GPRS module and the most widely used LED display as the sceen part. The procedures to send and receive information is designed to fit the hardware constitution and so is the content display of LED screen controled by ARM9. The project has described how the sender sends and edits the contents and the display process by the display end. Finally, each module of the system has gone through shakedown tests to make sure it meets the design requirement. After experimental verification the GPRS-based remote control display system has been proved completely feasible with very broad application prospects.
