The User Interface Research Of University Library Portal

With the rapid development of information age, internet has already gone into the livesof people. The website creates a powerful information environment for people as a kind ofinternet communicating medium. The website of library provides all kinds of resources forusers and propagandas itself well besides realizing specific functions. One of library websitesis the website of the university library portal.The user interface of library website not only guides the users to library, but also is theentrance of the resources as a “window”. It connects the users with library system andinfluences the efficiency of interacting between users and system. Therefore, the userinterface is an indispensable part in library system and has an important position.This paper aimed at doing the research on the user interface of university library portaland investigating the problems existing in the user interface of domestic university libraryportal and analyzing possible reasons through paper study, example study andmultidisciplinary study. The author puts forward some views on the user interface promotionof domestic university library portal after elaborating the related of user interface. The paperconsists of five parts:The first part is Introduction. It analyzed the problems existing in the user interface ofdomestic university library portal and elaborated the goal, significance and method of theresearch.The second part is the analysis of research status at home and abroad. It stated fromthree points: papers, view and practice and then analyzed the possible reasons.The third part is the theory overview of user interface. It included the design andappraisal. After this, author introduced the concept of portal to illustrate that the user interfaceof university library is a kind of information portal.The forth part is user analysis and the thinking of interface problems about universitylibrary portal. In this part, author analyzed the users’ feature and users’ demand, generalizedmodels of design arrangement and put forward the component of university library portal userinterface.The last part is summary and outlook. It summarized the research and achievement ofthis paper. There still exists shortcomings and deficiencies and the author would make itbetter in the future.
