One hand, with the rapid development of design integrated circuit technology, the scale and complexity of the circuit become higher and higher. The popular development trend is to integrate the entire system on a chip, called SOC, which extensively adopts IP reuse technologies. There is an urgent need of a standard interconnections on-chip for making IP cores integration faster and more convenient. In this case, AMBA becomes the most popular one among the kinds of bus standard. The other hand, along the rapid development of integrated circuit technical skill, feature sizes become smaller and smaller, the density of interconnects gets larger and larger and clock frequency becomes higher and higher, the power consumption of bus and delay induced by crosstalk brcome bigger and bigger. These are the most important factors which influence the system performance. Power consumption, crosstalk induced delay can be reduced effectively by bus coding technologys. So applying bus codding on AMBA has an immediate significance account.Based on AMBA2.0protocol and bus coding, the important parts of AHB bus are summarized.AHB models are realized by Verilog language.Based on the way in which AHB transfer, a bus coding is proposed in which TO coding is combined with improved BI coding to reduce the power consumption and crosstalk of AHB address buses. This coding method only needs4wires overhead for a32bits address buses which achieves a good enhancement in dynamic power, performance and wiring overhead. The proposed coding scheme is evaluated using the SPEC benchmarks. The results show that the coding method reduces the power consumption by67.52%while eliminating the WCC.
