To solve the problem that high-speed data transmission will bring great pressure to the local processor when the address mapping of physical memory is not continuous, a new idea of adding a DMA controller to the PCI Express bus is put forward by this paper based on the theory of the PCI Express. In this case, the local processor can pass relevant information of data transmission to DMA controller which will give an order of transmitting and wait for completion. As a result, without influencing the function of PCI Express bus, the processing performance will be improved greatly.Inspired by the above idea, this paper, based on the scientific research and thorough analysis of the PCI Express Base Specification and the operating principle of the DMA controller, is to design a special chaining mode DMA controller and successfully add it to the PCI Express bus, and then create the high speed DMA transmission system in PCI Express bus to optimize it. Moreover, the paper proposes two experimental verification of Soft IP Core to get the integrity of the verification: One is the fundamental verification of the function of PCI Express bus with DMA controller. The other is the function verification of DMA controller which is added to PCI Express bus.At last, it is proved that the experimental result is identical with the project design. And it gets a conclusion that such a design can optimize the performance of the processor and ameliorate the defects appeared in the relevant system when using PCI Express bus on the basis of no influence on normal work of PCI Express bus.
