Multifunction phased array radars (MFPAR) can search and track multiple targetssimultaneously with the beam agile capability. Therefore an effective schedulingmechanism is required that allocates the time of computer and energy of transmitterresources to the radar functions in such a way that the overall performance of MFPARis optimized. MFPAR has many scheduling mechanisms, such as fixed template,multi-template, partial template and adaptive scheduling algorithm. The adaptivescheduling algorithm is the most efficient scheduling mechanism to MFPAR.This paper describes the principle of operation and the theory of adaptivescheduling algorithm of MFPAR firstly, the types and design principles of schedulingmechanism are discussed in detail. Then base on the time window we presented thedesign principles, criterions for performance evaluation and optimum model ofalgorithm. Fixed scheduling interval algorithm is presented which can schedule thedwell requests on the basis of their priority, dwell length, expected time oftransmission and time window. And the validity of algorithm is proved by the results ofsimulation. Finally, mission scheduling as extend application of long-distance phasedarray guidance radar scheduling is discussed, some lacks are pointed out and someproposals are put forward for making the effect of scheduling better.
